The European Union's AI Act is law. It has been since August 2024. If your organization uses AI to make decisions that affect EU customers, employees, applicants, patients, or anyone located in the EU, there is a very good chance it applies to you right now, whether you know it or not. Most US executives haven't figured that out yet, and the gap between what this regulation requires and what organizations have actually done about it is growing. The date that matters is August
